HAMMOND — Franciscan Health announced last week that its downtown Hammond hospital would stop accepting ambulances this Friday, a decision city leaders are determined to fight.
Ambulance service to Franciscan Health Hammond will come to an end at 6 a.m. Dec. 23, as the hospital prepares to close its inpatient and emergency care services, according to a Franciscan Health spokesperson.
Franciscan Health notified first responders that it will start turning away ambulances at 6 a.m. Dec. 23. The Emergency Department will continue to take walk-in patients until Dec. 31.
