The Monroe County Health Department has scheduled two clinic dates in which the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine will be provided.
The dates are April 19 and April 26. The clinics will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Monroe County Community College s Health Education Building, 1555 S. Raisinville Road. Appointments are required; this is a standard procedure with COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Monroe County. No walk-up clinics are taking place in the area.
The Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine is a single dose, as compared to two other vaccines currently available in Michigan that require two doses each.
Any Monroe County resident or worker age 18 or older is eligible to register for the April 19 or April 26 vaccination clinics run by the health department. Other vaccination options that are available include area pharmacies and a series of pop-up clinics that are taking place across Monroe County.
LET offering free rides to vaccination clinics
Lake Erie Transit is providing free bus transportation to and from area vaccination clinics for residents and workers in Bedford and Frenchtown townships and the Monroe area.
Riders must show proof of their appointments, the company said in a press release. LET is joining the Michigan Public Transit System’s “Ride to Your Dose of Hope” along with more than 450 public transit companies in 41 states providing the service.
To ride free to the first vaccination appointment, riders must show the bus driver the phone text from vaccine officials, said Mark Jagodzinski, general manager for LET. For the second shot, riders must present their vaccine card with the appointment scheduled. The offer covers all LET services. Riders taking the bus home from the vaccine site will ride free, Jagodzinski said.
