Coppinger Says Be Extremely Cautious Though COVID-19 Numbers Are Trending Down Thursday, February 11, 2021 - by Joseph Dycus County Mayor Jim Coppinger said Thursday that people still need to be “extremely cautious” even as numbers are starting to trend down. He said there are around 1,500 active cases, and hospitalizations are starting to decrease.   “We’re trending in the right direction, but this is the time to be extremely cautious so we can continue to minimize the spread in our community,” County Mayor Coppinger said. “We have testing seven and six days a week at Alstom and CEMPA. If you’re symptomatic or think you’ve been exposed, we highly recommend you get tested to exclude you from being a spreader.”

Health Department Gets 4,597 New 1st Dose COVID-19 Vaccines; Opening New Vaccination Site At Enterprise South Nature Park Wednesday, February 10, 2021  The Hamilton County Health Department has added 4,597 first dose Pfizer appointments to the schedule. With the increase in doses, the Health Department announced the opening of a third vaccination site located at the Enterprise South Nature Park, 190 Still Hollow Loop.   Health Department Administrator Becky Barnes said, “Opening a vaccination site at Enterprise South Nature Park allows us to expand our efforts to another part of Hamilton County. We are delighted for the opportunity to offer the vaccine at three locations.”   February 19-20 at the Enterprise South Nature Park

County Officials Welcome Downturn In COVID Cases In Hamilton County Thursday, January 28, 2021 - by Joseph Dycus County Mayor Jim Coppinger - photo by Joseph Dycus Health Department Administrator Becky Barnes and County Mayor Jim Coppinger said Thursday they see a welcome trend in fewer COVID-19 cases in Hamilton County.   “Our numbers have gone down as it concerns active cases. We’re down to almost 2,000 cases, as are our hospitalization and ICU cases down,” County Mayor Coppinger said. “The testing continues and we are very active, and those numbers and the positivity rate has gone from 20 percent to around 13 percent.”   He thanked citizens who have followed precautions such as wearing masks, washing hands, and avoiding large gatherings.

Health Department Adds First Dose Appointments To The Vaccination Schedule; For Phases 1a1, 1a2 And Adults 75+ By Appointment Only Friday, January 22, 2021 The Hamilton County Health Department, in partnership with Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management, will begin taking first dose appointments again starting today (Friday) at 9 a.m.     All appointments are at the Riverpark Hubert Fry Center, 4301 Amnicola Hwy. Enter near the Chattanooga State side of the Riverpark, not the Navy and Marine Reserve side.   Those in the current Phases (1a1, 1a2, and individuals 75 and older) are encouraged to make their appointment online. Visit https://vaccine.hamiltontn. gov/ to view the list of phases and click on the first dose appointment link. Click the date tabs at the top of the appointment website and choose an  available appointment time.

Health Department Announces New Schedule At The COVID Alstom Testing Site Expand The Hamilton County Health Department’s COVID testing site at Alstom will no longer operate on Sundays, beginning January 24. The site will continue operations 6 days a week from Monday through Saturday, 10:00AM-2:30PM. As always, testing continues to be free and no appointment is necessary. “There has been a steady decrease in the demand for testing,” said Health Department Administrator Becky Barnes, “and an increase in both the demand and supply of vaccine. Therefore, we are making changes to accommodate this new phase of pandemic response and will redirect staff from our testing site to our vaccination sites on Sundays. We want to assure the community that we will continue to offer free testing as long as there is a need.”
