BALTIMORE â With just 67% of American adults vaccinated with at least one dose by July 4th, the country has missed President Joe Biden s 70% goal by Independence Day.
Within Maryland however, 75% of adults across the state have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine. We re getting a lot of people vaccinated, says Maryland Secretary of Health Dennis Schrader.
Adding, We ve still got work to do, and we re going to continue to encourage the unvaccinated to please, please, please, across the board, please get vaccinated.

FOX 5 s Melanie Alnwick reports from Montgomery County where some local leaders are concerned about a racial divide when it comes to who is receiving COVID-19 vaccines.
ROCKVILLE, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Montgomery County Council members took turns bashing the state COVID-19vaccine program at their meeting Tuesday - and saved special ire for Governor Larry Hogan and Acting Secretary of Health Dennis Schrader.
At issue is racial equity. Council members and county health officials believe the state’s method of priority distribution is better than what they call Maryland’s first-come, first-served system.

MYRIAD FACTORS SPUR FRUSTRATION OVER VACCINE DISTRIBUTION: Demand for COVID-19 vaccines in Maryland is quickly outpacing the state’s supply of vaccines, causing confusion for residents and prompting tough questions from lawmakers at the first meeting of the Senate Vaccine Oversight Workgroup on Monday. Bennett Leckrone of Maryland Matters writes that the state is only getting about 72,000 doses a week on average from the federal government, Acting Secretary of Health Dennis R. Schrader told lawmakers on Monday.
