Just a few announcements before we begin. I do want to thank our clerk, sfgtv and Building Management for helping us to put up the lighting. Many folks in the room may know we did have an electrical fire yesterday. That resulted in a fire. Which is why we have the lighting that is up. I want to ask all the members of the public here with us say thank you for your patience. Just a few things. I know there is a glare o
Right now as i understand the rules, this is for no hearing having occurred as opposed to something sitting in the committee having been heard, if there are no hearings scheduled, it has to be heard at the full board. If it has not been heard the next 30 days, this would change it to and im not trying to violate the 30 day rule if you make a request say a week or two after the introduction saying that this be calendared within 30 days unless you agree to a longer period. If they dont do so the author has the option to instruct that it be pulled to the full board. Tightens up the time period. Madam chair . Yes . The only issue i see with that is that the chair would not have the authority the schedule it during that first 30 days because it is under the 30 day rule. The supervisor would want to chair to schedule it right away, meaning when they could start scheduling it. It does minimize the chairs authority to schedule items in their time frame, and the consideration of al l they have

Thats a disaster. Our College Graduates need to go to those jobs that are sustainable longterm jobs. We would be creating those jobs. Not just in certain parts of the state but all over the state. I have also supported the hero at the Higher Education reform opportunity act that will spread accreditation in the state and increase the market and competition drive costs down. Moderator senator landrieu. Landrieu those amendments would be very helpful i believe to the 600,000 people in louisiana that have outstanding Student Loans. Its a serious burden and a serious challenge to all of us. Its not just a private luxury. Its a public good for people that have strong education. The frightening thing is to think about one or two of these gentlemen being in the senate than standing in line with Governor Jindal to raise education the state to 700 million the largest cuts in the state of the union. I have fought against those cuts and ive done a lot to make sure at least we support hundreds of
Question. Senator, for 29 years in the legislature, you have fashioned yourself to be a collaborative consensus type of leader. Things have not gotten better. Its gotten worse. A State Hospital crisis. We have the highest electricity prices in the nation. The state of our Education System needs some budget fixes right now. How can we be sure if you can do the job for 29 years, that you can fix our problems as a governor when you go to a bigger and greater job. Thank you very much for that question. I would love to be able to respond to it. You know, i am the only candidate here that has passed conference of restructuring of our Public School system. I am the only candidate here that has passed legislation that allows the Public Private partnerships for our hospital system. And really cut budget requests because i believe that is what you, the people of hawaii wanted. It is easy to say and talk when youre not really responsible for things. It is easy to be a leader and take a stand. It
