In its latest effort to block strike action by 6,200 Michigan Medicine nurses, who have been working without a contract since July 1, the MNA-UMPNC has filed an unfair labor practices charge and a supporting lawsuit against the University of Michigan.
In a Facebook post, the president of the MNA-UMPNC has blatantly used scare tactics to tell nurses what they can and cannot discuss about Michigan Medicine while they are working without a contract.
Michigan Medicine is big business and the Board of Regents are the equivalent of corporate directors. In directing nurses to protest at Regents’ meetings, the union is deliberately diverting their struggle into a blind alley.
The union has kept nurses on the job for five weeks since the expiration of their previous deal July 1, a clear signal that the union is collaborating with management to work out a sellout deal.
