reject the overhaul. trace gallagher following this live. hi, trace. reporter: hi, shannon. it s important to point out president obama won colorado pretty handily back in 2008, now the state is pushing for what it calls colorado s health care freedom act. they ve got the 130,000 signatures needed to get this thing on the ballot in november, and if it is passed, it would mean that citizens would be except from having to buy insurance or pay the fine. it would also exempt them from the feds forcing them into private or public plans against their will. now, state liberals are fighting tooth and nail against this measure. in fact, at one point during the petition drive they passed a law that said they couldn t pay those gathering signatures by the signature, they wanted them paid by the hour. that law is now on hold. now, medical groups, liberal groups saying that this does not force people into federal or local plans, private plans they don t want to get on to, but the
insurance. that will be super imposed by federal law. well, you re arguing of the supremacy clause. the law is that it s only supreme if constitutional. in this case, many americans believe and now know that, it is not. in in fact that wasn t the heart of the virginia case as well. virginia passing a law saying no resident of the state can be compelled to buy insurance. and. 21 states are challenging the constitutionality of the obama health law on the grounds, five states have passed something like the health care freedom act. three other states have propositions up on the ballot just like the missouri one. you re piling it on. you re real happy about this wrench in the work autos well, that is right. that is right. and i want everyone to have insurance. i want people to have good health care. i don t want to see our constitutional rights shredded. that is what the obama health
