How were your dealings with him as mayor of san antonio . Governor perry served, as folks may remember from 2001 until just recently. And i served on city council in san antonio from 2001 to 2005. Most of the time i interacted with governor was around Economic Development projects. And often times when mayors and governors interact on Economic Development, everyone is on the same page. You want to see investment in your local community. Senators are usually involved in sparking that investment. I have said publicly and privately that, with regard to Economic Development, former governor perry did make that a priority. So my relationship with him on those issues was cordial and good. When he supported san antonio. Obviously, i have much different views from him on a whole host of issues. And i believe in general that t
Pretty disgusting. When i was elected president of the senate in 2007, i was the first woman ever to be elected to lead the legislative body in massachusetts. And today, only 25 of our legislature consists of women. And in the senate, the number has grown to 13. This is not just a problem massachusetts. 18 of the 500 seats in congress are made up of women. There is not enough progress. We need to support women who have dreams of running for office. Those of us who are female legislators have to set an example to future generations by showing that it can be done. When i was head of equal pay for equal work, i always said, and i say it today, when you go through the door some of the people here and myself opened pushed open, dont close it behind you. Keep it open. The bottom line is, Women Deserve to be in office. Not because of the fact they are women. They are just as qualified and hardworking as men. Too many young women do not feel they have enough credentials to run. You heard that
