JOHOR BARU: The Johor Health Department has carried out Covid-19 screenings on more than 300 mosque and surau committee members here, and found six positive cases. State Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said there has been a rise in Covid-19 cases being reported in the community due to social and religious activities not following standard operating procedures (SOP). “The Health Department has taken proactive measures by carrying out surveillance on mosque and surau committee members in Johor, beginning within the Johor Baru district on Saturday (May 22). “The surveillance was carried out at Masjid At-Taqwa in Taman Kota Masai and Masjid Tan Sri Ainuddin Wahid in Taman Universiti involving 75 health workers, ” he said here on Monday (May 24).

Covid-19: Johor govt to propose allowing those vaccinated to travel to S pore

JOHOR BARU: The state government will ask the Federal government to allow those who have received the full dosage of the Covid-19 vaccine to travel to Singapore. Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said that individuals who have received the vaccine would be given a certificate indicating that they have been vaccinated. Johor will do its level best to ensure that the benefit of giving the vaccine would be reflected in the new normal . With the availability of certification for individuals who have been vaccinated, they should be given some kind of benefits in the new normal where borders are concerned.

Covid-19: Major spike in Johor cases due to voluntary foreign worker screenings, says Vidyananthan

JOHOR BARU: The major spike of Covid-19 cases in Johor is due to the voluntary screenings carried out by employers on their foreign workers, which started last month. State Health And Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said that on Thursday (Jan 7), Johor once more recorded the highest number of new cases in Malaysia, with 1,103 cases. “From the figure, about 1,043 cases are from clusters and close contact screening actively carried out in the field, ” he said, adding that there was a new cluster being reported here, which is the Senai Murni cluster. He also said that based on investigations, the Health Department found the main contribution to the new cases among foreign workers was due to their movements to red zone areas outside Johor as well as not following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that have been put in place.
