As we count down the days until cruise ships can sail from the United States once more, cruisers are turning to other getaways to satisfy their wanderlust and for many, escape the cold and snow of winter. The Dominican Republic is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Caribbean, seeing millions of visitors every year. If you’re an avid cruiser, you’ve probably visited the sunny skies and swaying palms of Amber Cove in Puerto Plata before and know firsthand how gorgeous the island can be. The good news for travelers is the Dominican Republic is open for tourism, but there are a few travel restrictions to consider before you book your trip.

13:20 | Lima, Feb. 2. The Ministry of Health (Minsa) streamlined the procedure to be followed by travelers who arrive in Peru and wish to shorten their mandatory quarantine period by proving that they are not infected with COVID-19, the sector reported on Tuesday.
However, this mandatory isolation period can be reduced to 6 days if the traveler proves not to be infected with coronavirus and receives an epidemiological discharge.
Before this mechanism was implemented, sending an e-mail to said ministry attaching the document issued by a molecular laboratory was necessary to confirm a negative result from the COVID-19 detection test, as well as awaiting a response from the State-run agency.

Travel isn’t easy these days. It’s been a long time since Americans could hop on a plane and jet to the other side of the world without worry. These days, the list of countries where people are allowed to visit pales in comparison to what it was, but there are still a few places allowing visitors without any COVID-19 restrictions.
The biggest problem facing travelers is many countries are requiring a 14-day mandatory quarantine for anyone flying in while others are denying entry entirely. Many also require proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR, rapid or antibody test prior to travel. Planning a weeklong vacation in another country is quite simply impossible if travelers are required to remain in their accommodations for up to two weeks.
