Standardized training in mindfulness and yoga diminished the burden of migraine in many dimensions, but reduced migraine day frequency about the same as headache education in a randomized clinical trial.
From baseline to 12 weeks, participants in mindfulness-based stress reduction training had 1.6 fewer monthly migraine days, while those in a headache education program had 2.0 fewer days (group difference -0.5, 95% CI −0.9 to 1.7, P=0.50), reported Rebecca Erwin Wells, MD, MPH of Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and colleagues.
But only mindfulness training lessened disability and improved quality of life, depression scores, and other measures reflecting well-being with effects seen out to 36 weeks, they wrote in
