WARRAP - "As police, we are supposed to serve and protect communities. To do that we must be at par with international policing standards,” says Angelo Akot, an investigator for the South Sudan National Police Service. Mr. Akot was speaking at the conclusion of a four-day intensive training-of-trainers facilitated by United Nations Police (UNPOL) officers in Kuajok.
“The scale and importance of what remains to be done does not leave room for inaction. We still see 2023 as a ‘make or break’ year for this nation if it is to fully implement the Peace Agreement,” stated Nicholas Haysom, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
