First-half Asia Pacific equity capital markets volumes dropped 16% to $117.2 billion from the same period in 2022, including a 34% drop in initial public offerings (IPOs) to $34.3 billion, Refinitiv data showed. Flatlining activity has prompted some banks like Goldman Sachs to start laying off staff across nearly all major investment banking divisions.
