NBA: Lakers Handy interviews for Wizards HC job

Photo by Adam Pantozzi/NBAE via Getty Images There has been another firestorm of Wizards coaching news and I almost missed this one. So let’s go. Anyway, Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Phil Handy has interviewed for the Washington Wizards vacancy in June, according to Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register. Based on the timing, he interviewed in the first round, but it’s unclear whether he is also in the second round. Handy has been an assistant coach for the Lakers in two different stints. Besides his current stint since 2019, he was also with the Lakers from 2011-13. Handy was also on the Cavaliers’ (2013-18) and Raptors’ (2018-19) staffs.

Photo by Srdjan Stevanovic/Getty Images On Friday, the Washington Mystics announced that they have signed Klara Lundquist to a contract. Lundquist is a Swedish national who plays for Alvik Basket in the Swedish Damligan where she was named the league’s player of the year according to the release. She averaged 21.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game in Swedish play this season and is just 21 years old. Before playing for Alvik Basket, Lundquist also played for BLMA based near Montpelier, France last season. In Washington’s release, General Manager and Head Coach Mike Thibault said the following: Klara is a young point guard that has continued to improve. She had a terrific season and was the Player of the Year in the Swedish League. She will only continue to improve, and we hope she can be a part of our future in the years to come.

WNBA: Mystics Cloud talks about the team and development at media day

Photo by Stephen Gosling/NBAE via Getty Images One of the greatest parts of media day this past Monday came when Natasha Cloud sat down. The energy she gave whether it was from seeing journalists she knew and loved or from her enthusiasm or just simply being her energetic self.was what we all needed to see. As mentioned before numerous times, there have been so many changes to the Washington Mystics roster since 2019. So it’s been hard to figure out how this team plans to move forward and make adjustments early on especially without their 2019 Finals MVP, Emma Meesseman, who may or may not return after the Tokyo Olympics.
