Tigers' Second Half Onslaught Secures Clemson Share of Atlantic Division Title – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

CLEMSON, S.C. The No. 15 Clemson men’s soccer team (12-4-0, 5-3-0 ACC) captured a share of the ACC’s Atlantic Division TItle on Friday night with a 5-1 victory against the Louisville Cardinals (10-6, 5-3 ACC) on Senior Night. The Tigers conceded the first goal of the game before their offense finally broke through to score three unanswered.  The co-championship of the Atlantic Division clinched the Tigers a first-round bye in the ACC Tournament and home-field advantage until the conference championship in Cary, N.C. The Tigers started the match on the front foot, creating several key chances in the first 20 minutes, all of which were turned away brilliantly by Louisville’s goalkeeper Detre Bell. Ultimately it was the Cardinals who capitalized first, putting away a beautifully struck ball into the top-right corner of George Marks’s net. The lead was destined to be short-lived, as the Tigers put together a lovely build-up, culminating in Alvaro Gomez playing a lofted ball over

Tigers Explode for Four Second-Half Goals in 4-0 Win Over FIU

CLEMSON, S.C. Behind Luis Felipe Fernandez-Salvador’s second-half brace, Clemson erupted for four goals in the period and shut out Florida International 4-0 at Historic Riggs Field on Tuesday night. Clemson came blitzing out of the halftime locker room and scored three goals in the first 11 minutes of the second frame to take command of the match.  The first half on the other hand went by with little action. The Panthers outshot the Tigers 7-4, but Clemson goalkeeper George Marks turned away any chance FIU had of grabbing the first goal. Just 23 seconds into the second half, Fernandez-Salvador presented a threat to the Panther defense and was taken down in the box. He then handed the ball to Oskar Ågren, who calmly stepped to the spot and placed the ball beyond the outstretched arm of the Panthers keeper to give Clemson the advantage.  Then, just seven minutes later, a Tigers' offensive rush saw Isaiah Reid catch up to a long-ball that was destined to go out for a throw-in.
