(File photo) MANILA - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has collected more than PHP113 million in additional revenues last year through its X-ray Inspection Project (XIP). Citing the latest data on Friday, the agency said it has collected a total of PHP113,721,158.80 in duties and taxes from January to December last year, higher by 13 percent from 2020's collection of PHP100,604,244.73. At the same time, the XIP said a total of 847,950 scanned containers last year, achieving a 65% increase and boosting its scanning rate performance as compared to the previous year. In 2020, the BOC had a total of 513,474 scanned containers from January to December. Through the utilization of 124 X-ray machines and with the deployment of four additional newly procured machines, the BOC was also able to collect increased additional revenues.
