MANILA - Many areas in the country will experience rains due to the trough of Typhoon Nyatoh, the weather bureau said on Friday. In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said "Nyatoh" was last tracked 1,645 kilometers east of northern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It packs maximum sustained winds of 175 kms. per hour and gustiness of up to 215 kph. "It slightly intensified and continues to move away from PAR. However, its trough or extension will continue to bring rains over parts of the country," weather forecaster Samuel Duran said. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas, Negros provinces, and the southern portion of Palawan including Kalayaan Island. "This compares to June 2021 when 48 percent felt poor, 29 percent felt borderline poor, and 23 percent felt not poor," the SWS said in a statement. MANILA - Generally fair weather will prevail over most parts of the country, although the weather bureau is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) last tracked at 125 km. west of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, a forecaster said on Saturday. "It (LPA) has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, but this will bring rains over Palawan, especially over Kalayaan Islands," Grace Castaneda of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, the rest of Mimaropa, the Visayas, and Mindanao will have generally fair weather, with isolated rains caused by localized thunderstorms.
