Trough of Nyatoh , amihan continue to bring rains across PH

MANILA - Many areas in the country will experience rains due to the trough of Typhoon Nyatoh, the weather bureau said on Friday. In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said "Nyatoh" was last tracked 1,645 kilometers east of northern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It packs maximum sustained winds of 175 kms. per hour and gustiness of up to 215 kph. "It slightly intensified and continues to move away from PAR. However, its trough or extension will continue to bring rains over parts of the country," weather forecaster Samuel Duran said. The latest findings of the pollster published late Saturday night showed 45 percent of Filipino families rating themselves as poor, 34 percent rating themselves as borderline poor, and 21 percent rating themselves as not poor. "This compares to June 2021 when 48 percent felt poor, 29 percent felt borderline poor, and 23 percent felt not poor," the SWS said in a statement. The SWS estimated numbers of self-rated poor families are 11.4 million in September 2021 and 12 million in June 2021. Fair weather to prevail over most of PH

MANILA - Generally fair weather will prevail over most parts of the country, although the weather bureau is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) last tracked at 125 km. west of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, a forecaster said on Saturday. "It (LPA) has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, but this will bring rains over Palawan, especially over Kalayaan Islands," Grace Castaneda of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, the rest of Mimaropa, the Visayas, and Mindanao will have generally fair weather, with isolated rains caused by localized thunderstorms. PH Red Cross gives manpower to LGUs for vax drive

MANILA - The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has deployed hundreds of staff and volunteers nationwide to help augment the vaccination drive in various local government units (LGUs). More than 2,300 people were vaccinated in one day from various LGUs in Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao on Friday, November 5. The manpower augmentation is widely appreciated by each LGU as PRC staff and volunteers assisted each of their health offices in the actual jabbing process and documentation.
