HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) A Hutchinson woman whose car went off a road, killing one person and injuring six others, has pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence.
Viola Rhodes, 61, also pleaded guilty Wednesday to six counts of aggravated battery. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors agreed not to charge her with reckless second-degree murder, The Hutchinson News reported.
Rhodes was driving a carload of people on Dec. 5 when her vehicle went off a road and overturned near Yoder.
One passenger, Brian Bookout, 44, was thrown from the vehicle and later died. Two other passengers were hospitalized and four others were treated at the scene.
