DOH logs 3,218 new Covid-19 cases, lowest since Sept 11

MANILA - The Philippines logged its lowest daily coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in over a month, with 3,218 new infections reported on Wednesday. In its Covid-19 bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said this brought the total number of active cases to 50,152, lower than Tuesday's 53,642. Wednesday's figure of new cases is the lowest since September 11, when the country logged a peak of 26,303 new infections. The last time the country logged over 3,000 daily infections was on May 23 this year, with 3,083. Meanwhile, 6,660 new recoveries pushed the total count to 2,676,349 out of a total of 2,768,849 confirmed infections. Another 271 new deaths raised the death toll to 42,348. About 73.4 percent of these active cases are mild, 6.8 percent are asymptomatic, 2.6 percent are critical, 6.2 percent are severe, and 11.02 percent are moderate.
