A 1985 HDT VK Commodore SS Group A ‘Blue Meanie’ is the latest Australian-made car to make $1 million at auction, hitting the magic milestone at a special Grays auction. While all the VK SS Group A cars are desirable, what makes this one extra special is the fact it was originally owned and used by Peter Brock himself. Appropriately, Brock selected build #005 of the 500 VK SS Group A cars built and drove it prior to and following the model’s release in 1985.

Peter Brock s own 1985 HDT VK SS Group A set to be the most expensive Aussie car sold

5/5 A body kit and 16-inch HDT Aero wheels with optional white finish were fitted, along with Scheel sports bucket seats inside, a Momo steering wheel and shifter, and a plaque displaying the build number on the glovebox. Designed as a homologation special, the late Peter Brock was assigned build #005 in line with his iconic racing number, which adorned nearly all of his vehicles throughout his esteemed career. Brock famously helped to develop the SS Group A, and drove this particular vehicle during the model s release. It is being sold by the family that purchased the car from him – and has just 77,539km on the clock. All paperwork accompanies the vehicle to authenticate its provenance.
