The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded $533,251 to Hawai‘i under the 2023 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program for eight projects that support ornamental cut flowers and eucalyptus, and the propagation of papaya crops.
A live boa constrictor was reported on Saturday slithering on the deck of a cargo ship bound for Honolulu Harbor. The non-native reptile was captured when the boat docked at Pier 31.
The Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the popular Micro-Grant for Food Security Program. This is the third year of the grant program which provides support for small-scale gardening, herding and livestock operations to increase the quantity and quality of locally grown food in food insecure communities.
