Hayner Center to host artist reception TROY The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is pleased to invite the public to an artist reception on Sunday, June 6 th from 2 to 4 p.m. Artists Kay Selke and Jennifer Rosengarten currently have their artwork on display at the Hayner Center. The exhibit, “A Transformative Journey: Paintings and Drawings Exploring the Relationship Between Student and Teacher – Kay Selke & Jennifer Rosengarten” will be on display through June 20. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.. “A Transformative Journey” is an exhibit that celebrates the metamorphosis that comes with artists learning from one another. In this instance, Selke is the student learning from the teacher, Rosengarten.

Painting exhibit coming to Hayner TROY The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will present “A Transformative Journey: Paintings and Drawings Exploring the Relationship Between Student and Teacher Kay Selke & Jennifer Rosengarten.” The exhibit will be on display at the Hayner Center through June 20 at the center, 301 W. Main St. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The exhibit celebrates the metamorphosis that comes with artists learning from one another. In this instance, Kay Selke is the student learning from the teacher, Jennifer Rosengarten. After earning a bachelor of fine arts from Wright State University, Rosengarten attended the Artist Residency Program at Vermont Studio School where she studied with Bernard Chaet and Wolf Kahn. She earned a master’s degree in painting from Boston University. Upon completion of her MFA, she was awarded the prestigious Esther B. Kahn Career Entry Award. Her work has been shown in galleries across the United States.

The Hayner Center is located at 301 W. Main St. in Troy. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Artists have been learning from one another for hundreds of years. During the Renaissance, apprentices studied under the guidance of a master artist. Today, artists learn from one another in a variety of settings and circumstances. For instance, they may gather in a group with a common goal and offer each other encouragement and inspiration, as well as training on techniques and media. Similarly, an artist who wishes to expand their knowledge of a certain style or technique may seek out an accomplished artist to educate them.

Thomas on display at Hayner Center Maxine Thomas TROY The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is pleased to host Quilting Through Time, an exhibit featuring more than 30 art quilts by Ohio artist Maxine S. Thomas. The exhibit will be on display through Feb. 14. The Hayner Center is located at 301 W. Main St. in Troy. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Thomas is a textile artist who uses yardage, threads, and dyes to create the fabrics she uses to paint her textile art pieces. She specializes in art quilts for the home and commercial commissions. Thomas has displayed her work in juried shows, invitational shows and solo exhibitions in the United States and around the world. Thomas’ work has been published in three volumes and is in the collection of a major mid-western university, an international foundation, as well as private collections of art lovers throughout the United States.
