The past year has not been easy on the Blevins family. Paula Blevins said the family has worked tirelessly to limit the risk of COVID-19 for her 34-year-old daughter Amanda. We have not had any friends, family or relatives come into this house for the past year, Blevins said.
Amanda Blevins is homebound and receives 24-hour care for multiple medical conditions. Blevins said Amanda is non-verbal and non-mobile. Any time we leave this house it s a $1,400 ambulance ride round trip, Blevins said.
When the COVID-19 vaccine was approved, Blevins said she was thrilled, at least until she started to look into finding an appointment. For five weeks she searched, eventually reaching out to state and local leaders.
