Airports in Van Nuys, Burbank, Hawthorne Receive Grants from FAA

By City News Service May 14, 2021 LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Van Nuys Airport was awarded an $18.9 million grant today from the Federal Aviation Administration to resurface and seal the pavement on its primary runway, and smaller grants were also given to the Hollywood Burbank Airport and Hawthorne Municipal Airport. The Van Nuys Airport pavement project is expected to extend the life of the runway s pavement, and construction is scheduled to begin next February and be completed in November 2022, officials said. A $1.89 million grant was also awarded to the Hollywood Burbank Airport for land acquisition and a $1.57 million grant was awarded to the Hawthorne Municipal Airport to reconstruct a taxiway and seal taxiway pavement and pavement joints.

Taos Air flights to resume July 1

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Taos Air will restart service to airports in California, Texas and other destinations in July. Starting July 1, Taos Air will restart its roundtrip air service offering direct flights to and from Austin–Bergstrom International Airport, Dallas Love Field Airport, Hawthorne Municipal Airport in Los Angeles and McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad. After its winter 2019-20 season, the airline went on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release from the airline. The continuation of Taos Air is the result of a collaborative effort by the Enchanted Circle Council of Governments, an inter-governmental group focused on promoting and enhancing economic development in the region, according to the release.
