It may help actors to bring their keenest sense of humor to this week s tryouts. The play, based on an off-Broadway production, satirizes how complicated it is to arrange a same-sex marriage under the hard-and-fast rules of a religious household, Stracco said.
The play is so funny, a critic once raved, that it is like an ab workout. It takes all of the stereotypes of being gay, and being Italian, and it throws them all into one story, Stracco said.
The play will be performed on May 27, as part of a dinner theater benefit for college scholarships, at Macaluso s Events & Banquets, 55 Fourth Ave. The event will feature a buffet, with dessert, and cash bar.
