Ely man reportedly found surrounded by beer cans when arrested for second OWI

04/29/21 An Ely man was reportedly surrounded by beer cans when North Liberty Police found him passed out in a parking lot Wednesday night. According to arrest reports, an officer observed 52-year-old Stacy Fledge of Glendale Lane pull into the Urban Fuel location on Hawkeye Drive earlier in the evening, and after still seeing him there at around 9:45pm, checked on his welfare. They allegedly came upon him passed out behind the wheel, surrounded by beer cans. Police say he was visibly intoxicated and performed poorly on initial field testing before he refused additional testing of any kind. When arrested for OWI, Flege allegedly fought with officers. He reportedly refused to get into the back seat of the squad car, and had to be forced inside. During the scuffle, he kicked an officer, who suffered a bloody knee.

North Liberty man wanted on drug warrants found in possession of drugs when arrested

04/06/21 A North Liberty man who was wanted on drug warrants was found Monday night in the possession of drugs. 47-year-old Carl Wixom of Hawkeye Drive had been wanted on two warrants. A search warrant executed at his residence on May 29, 2019 allegedly found 22.5 grams of methamphetamine, and he reportedly admitted under Miranda that he sold the drug. Another search warrant was executed this past March 4 th and authorities found multiple containers containing a substance consistent with marijuana. Arrest warrants were issued for Wixom on April 1 st. Monday night, Wixom’s vehicle was stopped near his residence due to the outstanding warrants. A police K9 on scene allegedly alerted to the presence of narcotics, and a subsequent probable cause search turned up marijuana in the trunk. Wixom also allegedly admitted that he shoved an additional bag of marijuana down his pants and turned it over to officers.
