Hope that the first hurricane headed toward hawaii would weaken as it moves west across the pacific. It did not. And now hawaii is poised to take its first direct hurricane hit in 22 years. Hurricane iselle is expected to hit the big island as early as this evening. Heavy rains and wind gusts up to 85 miles an hour are expected along with flooding in some areas. State officials are telling people on all of the Hawaiian Islands to get ready, but not to panic. The American Red Cross is setting up some nofrills shelters. Just providing a safe place to get out of the storm basically. There are no amenities, maybe no Running Water or food. Reporter and another hurricane, julio, is lurking right behind. Tourists and locals have been getting in some lastminute beach time. Bottled water and other items are quickly disappearing from grocery stores. Now the fourth, iselle, is expected to come ashore here in hilo in just a few hours. Workers at Hawaii Hotels are boarding up. Emergency responders are planning for the worst. A potential backtoback hit from a pair of powerful storms. Barney sheffield is the disaster coordinator for the red cross in Hawaii County and hes worried about potential damage to the islands ports. If it rains enough in hilo, we would probably catch enough water for people to supply, but theres a food problem. Theres a limited amount of food at any one time. Reporter ivan piilani has seen a hurricane firsthand. He lost his home to flash flood when it came through more than 30 years ago. Im not worried but pretty anxious to see what happens. Reporter drivers face long lines to fill up on gas and many rush to fill up on food and water. But within hours some store shelves were empty. Tonight, that serial stow away is still out of jail, but christin, there are lots of questions.
