i really hope they do. anyway, it s been fun. thank you, allison. yeah, sure, you got it. long christmas vacation. the storm wreaked havoc on rail travel, and plagued amtrak commuters. jeanne meserve joins us from union station in washington, d.c. jeanne, what is the latest down there? tonight things are looking better at yun yun station. the crowds have largely dispersed though there are still some delays with both arrivals and departures from this station. a big improvement from earlier today where the weather just really snarled things up all along the northeast corridor. yesterday, amtrak was forced to cancel service between new york and boston, boston to portland, maine, washington south to richmond, virginia, and newport news. today, gradually that service was restored. but there still were some cancellations and some delays, sometimes minutes long. sometimes they were hours long. and clearly some passengers were fed up.
expected to come out of here tomorrow. but you can only imagine, eliot, kathleen, what the backlog is going to be look to get the passengers out with two days of no flights going out of here. kathleen, eliot? how long is it going to take to actually work through this backlog? how many days until the passengers bumped will be able to get on a plane going to their destination? a lot of the flights that would be going out tomorrow are booked. how many days will it take to get through the backlog? do you know what, eliot, talking days. some people are talking maybe they will be getting out friday, on new year s eve. that is their only hope. there is really no telling. it is really up to the airlines, how many planes are really going to put in motion to get the passengers out of here. it really, literally could be days before they, finally reach their destinations. this is more than casual interest. i have five people in my house trying to get on one of the planes. i really hope they
