a lot of people working together to get it taken care of. reporter: and has everybody been relocated today? yes, they have. they re either in local nursing homes or in the hospital, but everyone has been relocated. reporter: and i think the big question especially when you look at just the sheer devastation that we ve seen throughout the day as we kind of take laps around the nursing home, what s the next step? is there rebuilding in the future? what s the goal here this. well, today was mostly about the residents and communicating with the families and meeting their needs. then we re going to set back and assess our situation. we have been in contact with our insurance companies, and so it s going to be kind of a wait and see. and then, you know, but we re local people, we both live here and so, obviously, we re very interested in coming back. reporter: and just lastly here before you guys go because i know you have a lot going on, just want to give you a moment to really sp
i know your staff told me they threw their own bodies over these■ç residents, so i feel lie there s a lot of care in this nursing home, so i just want to give you a moment to speak to those families. we can t say enough about our staff. they went above and beyond. they the did as much as they could to protect and get them out safely. it was adverse conditions, win, rain, totally black. so as far as getting them out and everything, it was an admirable job. i think it s definitely reflective of the care that they provide the residents. reporter: and, of course, your quick reaction also really has been incredible to see. we saw you guys out here really first thing this morning. we got here about 4:00, and you guys were here not too long after. so glad for the safety of your staff and of you guys, of course. thank you. thank you. reporter: and just bringing it back over to this scene, i mentioned people have kind of been coming in and out now as we start to shift to that recover

white house reporter, standing by. he is at the white house covering this as well and, david, i m not sure if you can hear me, but have you gotten any information in terms of what the president may be saying today? reporter: hi, arthel. we know that president biden will likely be discussing approving the emergency disaster deck la that he a declaration that he approve on the request of the governor from kentucky. the president in wilmington, delaware, for the weekend, but he made this trip over to downtown wilmington to speak about this devastation. we also know, arthel, that he was on the phone here is the president right now. ■ç late on saturday afternoon, but i want to provide to an update on the deadly and devastating tornadoes that have moved across several states in the central united states including touching down across 227 miles of kentucky alone. i m monitoring the situation very closely since early this
