The Southeast Jutland Police in Denmark have revealed that a haulier and his son have both been charged with road transport offences following raids in the early hours of Friday morning.
The two men were both suspected of repeated cases of personal misconduct and violation of driving and rest time regulations.
According to the official police statement on the matter, the authorities had been investigating the haulier for a long time, as it was suspected that the driver’s licenses used in the trucksâ tachographs did not belong to the actual drivers. After the investigation yielded evidence the above suspicions were true, the police obtained a court order granting a search and arrest warrant.

The fallout over Germany’s stricter border controls with Austria and the Czech Republic has continued after lorry drivers were forced to queue in sub-zero temperatures yesterday for covid tests.
According to reports in the Czech Republic, some drivers had to wait 3 hours for their tests. As we reported yesterday, some queues at the Czech Border stretched as long as 20km.
Moreover, on the E50/D5, which leads to the German city of Nuremberg, a queue of HGVs initially also spanned over 20km, according to the motorway administration office and radio traffic news.

Yesterday afternoon, Portugal declared a national emergency due to the spread of the coronavirus. The country has introduced strict measures that will apply until January 30th.
Lorry drivers are exempt from the measures, which require citizens to stay at home apart from a few exceptions. However, they must download, complete and then carry an exemption form.
