Author: Dinah Chukwu Updated: 9:22 PM CDT July 17, 2021 AUSTIN, Texas First responders have recovered the body of a swimmer who went missing at Lake Travis on July 3.  Deputies with the Travis County Sheriff s Office Lake Patrol Unit recovered the body of the swimmer now identified as 28-year-old Lonnie Gray at approximately 11:30 a.m. on the shoreline. According to a game warden, Gray went under while trying to help a friend who was struggling in the water.

AUSTIN, Texas (KBTX) - The search continues for a local father who went missing while swimming on the July 4th weekend on Lake Travis. The following news release was posted this weekend by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office: At 4:53 pm on Saturday, July 3, 2021, TCSO responded to a 911 report of a missing swimmer in the Hatter Cove area of Lake Travis. Multiple agencies participated in rescue efforts. At 5:29 pm, rescue efforts shifted to recovery. TCSO engaged in recovery efforts until dusk, assisted by Texas Parks & Wildlife, Jonestown Police Department and Fire Department, Lake Travis Fire & Rescue, Briarcliff Fire Department and Starflight.
