KATHUA, July 11: The residents of Hatli Morh held a protest demonstration against the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for its negligent attitude and for not renovating the stretch of the Highway which is in worst condition resulting into accidents despite the fact that the vehicles plying on the Highway are paying regular toll. The Highway also remained blocked some time after it got submerged in drainage water and a vehicle also turned turtle.
The worsening condition of National Highway and poor sewerage system at Hatli Morh caused serious problems to the people and it resulted into repeated accidents due to chocking of drainage water on Highway. Even a shower of rainfall turns into pond and vehicles passing through the Highway meet the accidents.

JAMMU, May 19: Jammu and Kashmir today reported 62 COVID casualties and 3969 fresh cases. Jammu region accounted for 39 deaths and 1375 positives. Significantly, as against 1375 new cases, 1385 persons today recovered from the virus.
Among 39 fatalities in Jammu region, 22 were reported in Jammu district, majority from rural areas, five each in Samba and Kathua districts, two each Reasi, Poonch and Udhampur and one in Rajouri district. Sixteen women were among the dead while three persons succumbed to the virus at home and were brought dead to the Government hospitals.
JAMMU: Two persons were killed while one sustained injuries in an explosion inside a factory in Kathua of Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday.
Police said the explosion occurred inside a chemical factory near Hatli Morh in Kathua, manufacturing zinc and copper items. “Two charred bodies were found inside the premises. One was identified as that of local contractor Shakeel Ahmed and the other of a labourer whose identity is yet to be ascertained, sources said. The immediate cause of the explosion could not be ascertained and further investigation was on.
