Gaza hospitals are within hours of losing power as fuel embargo continues, say doctors and agencies

Hospitals in Gaza have less than 48 hours of generator fuel remaining, the Hamas run health ministry said on 24 October, a warning echoed by doctors at several hospitals and by the United Nations. “We currently have 120 neonates who are in incubators, out of which we have 70 neonates with mechanical ventilation, and this is where we are extremely concerned,” Unicef spokesperson Jonathan Crickx said. Hatem Edhair, head of the neonatal unit at Nasser Hospital in Gaza City, told the Guardian on 23 October that he had eight babies in intensive care. “Half of these children are on continuous positive airway pressure and oxygen machines. We have about 48 hours of fuel left.
