EASTHAM Restrictions on water-skiing hours at Great Pond proved a sticking point Monday night as the Select Board declined to decide on proposed boating bylaw revisions.
Several revisions to the town’s boating bylaw drafted in the lead-up to the annual town meeting were discussed during the Monday hearing, held via Zoom teleconferencing.
No-wake zones
The biggest changes would be the creation of a no-wake zone in tidal creek areas and narrow bodies of water, horsepower limits on freshwater ponds and restricted hours for waterskiing on Great Pond.
The proposal to limit water-skiing hours on Great Pond from 10 a.m. to sunset has prompted a lot of pushback. Currently, water skiing is allowed between 7 a.m. and a half-hour before sunset on even-numbered days on the 109-acre pond.
