A man accused of threatening preschoolers and parents outside a Bloomfield Hills synagogue in December 2022 was found unfit for trial, on an unrelated Federal charge.
The man who is accused of verbally accosting mothers bringing their children to Temple Beth El Preschool and threatening the security guards with racial slurs has been deemed unfit for trial.
“My fellow governors and I are calling for an increase to the federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program so we can help keep people safe amid rising threats and violence targeted towards Jewish, Muslim, and Arab communities and houses of worship,” Whitmer said in a statement.
Hassan Chokr was charged with ethnic intimidation in connection with an incident outside a synagogue last year. He has been deemed incompetent to stand trial, but several review hearngs are pending.
