We all can be heroes via vaccination
I’m a family doctor at OSU, but I got my vaccine early because I volunteered for one of the COVID trials several months ago. I’ve been a doctor for over 45 years and I’ve seen all sorts of side effects to medicines and vaccines, but I felt really comfortable getting this one. Let me explain why.
First of all, the need is great. Not only have more than 300,000 Americans perished prematurely from COVID-19, but the stress on our health care system is crushing. Still, lots of folks are skeptical or downright hostile to this vaccine or any vaccine. Certainly, an injectable medicine developed at “warp speed” would give anyone pause even Captain Kirk, but it turns out virtually all of the time savings came from pushing through bureaucratic red tape, for which we owe thanks to Captain Trump and the FDA staff.
