The city of Whitefish plans to address the housing crisis in this upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 7 election asking voters to re-allocate where the funds go from the 3% resort tax.
Whitefish City Council on Monday will decide whether to place a measure before voters in the fall that would direct a portion of resort tax dollars toward community housing.
Whitefish City Council voted unanimously earlier this month to review a proposed financial plan that reallocates resort tax funds to include community housing.
Whitefish is considering increasing the buffer between marijuana businesses and schools and churches as well as the distance between such businesses themselves.
Whitefish’s proposed budget is calling for an increase in property taxes after the previous year’s budget relied on an increase in resort tax collections to provide a property tax rebate.
