RANGPUR, March 2, 2021 (BSS) – Creating awareness among youths on voting rights and inspiring them in exercising voting rights have become crucial to give democracy an institutional shape.
The opinion came today at a discussion arranged by Rangpur Regional Office of the Election Commission here with the assistance of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office in observance of the National Voters’ Day 2 March 2021 in the city.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md. Zakir Hossain inaugurated observance of the day by releasing festoon and balloons on Rangpur Regional Office of the Election Commission premises as the chief guest.
Tk 77,000 Zakat money distributed in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Feb 25, 2021 (BSS) – Eight poor, distressed and needy people received Taka 77,000 from the Government’s Zakat Fund in a function held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in the city today.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan distributed the Zakat money in the function arranged strictly abiding by the health directives to prevent community transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19) as the chief guest.
Rangpur divisional office of the Islamic Foundation organised the function also attended by its Rangpur Divisional Director Agriculturist Md. Nurul Islam.
High officials of the district administration and Rangpur divisional office of the Islamic Foundation and local journalists also attended the function.

Preparations afoot to observe Shaheed Dibash in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 19, 2021 (BSS) – All necessary preparations have been completed to observe the “Shaheed Dibash and International Mother Language Day-2021” paying rich tribute to the Language Movement Martyrs in Rangpur division on Sunday.
Officials in the district administrations said the day will be observed in a befitting manner with limited scale programmes across the division abiding by the health directives in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In line with the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the programmes taken by different organisations will also present the special contribution of Bangabandhu to the language movement on the day.
Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak today said the prominent nuclear
scientist Wazed Mia was a greed free and uncomplicated person.
“Throughout his career, Wazed Mia has worked tirelessly with his talent and
creativity for the welfare of the country,” he said.
He as the chief guest was virtually speaking at a programme marking the
80th birthday of Wazed Mia, said a press release.
Terming Dr Wazed as a person with sharp talent and political conscious,
Palak said, “He played a courageous role in the liberation movement led by
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”.
