Law minister chairs meeting to formulate implementation plan

ISLAMABAD:
Law Minister Barrister Dr Farogh Naseem has called for effective implementation of Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates Act, 2020 by the Pakistani missions abroad in order to facilitate the diaspora community.
Chairing a meeting attended by Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood and Overseas Pakistanis Secretary Dr Hashim Popalzai, the minister apprised the representatives from the foreign ministries and overseas Pakistanis about the usefulness of the system.
The system is developed with the help of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The meeting at the law ministry was held to formulate a plan in this regard, said an official handout issued here on Tuesday.

ISLAMABAD: After falling out of favour with his powerful patrons, recently removed Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Omar Sheikh is unlikely to get the nod from the Central Selection Board (CSB) for the third consecutive time for promotion to Grade 21.
Sheikh has already been twice superseded by the CSB. The board, constituted by Prime Minister Imran Khan, starts its three-day session from January 4 to look into the promotion of bureaucrats of different groups to grades 20 and 21.
Omar Sheikh faces heavy odds this time as well in view of the inclusion of two senior police officers in the CSB.

In a quick response to a damning report that points to some of the top ruling party leaders’ involvement in the sugar crisis, Prime Minister Imran Khan has changed portfolios of key ministers while bringing in new faces.
Monday’s reshuffle looks especially limited when compared with Imran’s first reshuffle carried out in April last year.
The prime minister replaced Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar with Syed Fakhar Imam as Federal Minister for National Food Security, said a notification issued by the PM Office, adding Azam Sawati was made Federal Minister for Narcotics Control.
