Tatayana Vanderlaan, a Black woman, attended Hartland Consolidated School District during her junior and senior years, where, her lawsuit alleges, she was subjected to unremitting racist comments and even threats of violence from fellow students.
A federal lawsuit has been filed by a former Hartland High School student alleging that administrators failed to take seriously her complaints of racial harassment.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Michigan said it has resolved its investigation into allegations of racial discrimination by the Hartland Consolidated School District.
