NISKAYUNA – As the Niskayuna Central School District school board begins the task of hiring a new superintendent, it will need to decide whether it will face the effort on its own or hire a search consultant to help them, according to a state School Boards Association official.
Current Superintendent Cosimo Tangorra Jr. announced Tuesday evening to the board he would be accepting the same position with the New Hartford Central School District in Oneida County.

NISKYAUNA – After six years and less than a month after the school board extended his contract, Cosimo Tangorra announced Tuesday that he’s stepping down as Niskayuna superintendent to lead the New Hartford Central School District in Oneida County.
Niskayuna School Board member Howard Schlossberg said after Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting that he was surprised by the move.
He said Tangorra read a letter to the panel saying he “appreciated the opportunity to work in Niskayuna” and “praised his team members.”
“I’ll miss the guy, he is a great superintendent, I’m sorry to see him go,” added Schlossberg.
