After a news titled “886 cattle found infected with lumpy skin disease” appeared in these columns of The Tribune yesterday, the Animal Husbandry Department today released an additional Rs 50,000 for its Muktsar district office to immediately purchase medicines.
In all, 886 animals have got infected with lumpy skin disease (LSD) and 22 head of cattle have died in Muktsar till July 30. Ironically, the district animal husbandry office has just Rs 25,000 to take precautionary measures.
