Avera Health is building a four-story, $28 million wing at the Avera Behavioral Health Center in Sioux Falls, the organization announced at a news conference Thursday morning.
The wing will add more capacity for children, residential addiction care for youth, and a 24-hour psychiatric urgent care and partial hospitalization space, officials said at the announcement. That level of mental health care is unprecedented for the region.
âThis is moving us toward what has always been our goal,â said Dr. Matthew Stanley, a psychiatrist with Avera.
The Leona and Harry Helmsley Charitable Trust is donating $13 million in grant funding to the project that includes an $8 million gift and $5 million in matching funds.
