Charleston City Councilman Harry Griffin refused a field sobriety and breathalyzer test when he was arrested for DUI in Berkeley County over the Memorial Day weekend. Mothers Against Drunk Driving, also known as MADD, said the state of South Carolina has a problem with refusals. The organization's leader said it's a growingtrend that can't be ignored. CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Charleston City council members have voted to extend emergency ordinances pertaining to COVID-19 which includes the cityâs mask ordinance which has been extended to April 14.
During Tuesdayâs city council meeting, many people sent in comments asking for city council to remove the mask ordinance.
After getting advice from a medical expert from the Medical University of South Carolina, the majority of council members agreed that restrictions should stay in place a while longer.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - An attorney for the city of Charleston has drafted a rough version of a new set of rules for city council and committee members to follow.
After a controversy involving Harry Griffin happened last month, city leaders said they looked at whether council and committee members could be held accountable for their behavior.
City Councilmember Carol Jackson said she found out through talking the cityâs legal counsel, there is no information pertaining to conduct in their local rules of order.
