the first republican president in 20 years, imagine that. first republican president in 20 years appoints warren to be chief justice of the court. the warren court does remarkably historic rulings on integration. on sectarian school prayer. republicans are living to some extent with kind of cultural memory that republican presidents have not always delivered on the conservative agenda that the base believed they might deliver on. so if 1962 with the school prayer decision happened. it was a nixon appointee, harry blackman who wrote the roe decision. the first 1990, the first justice, that george h.w. bush appointed was david suitor seen as a stalking horse, not conservative enough.

confirmation should take place this close to the election, but here s a more fundamental fact. i was a supreme court law clerk. i worked for justice harry blackman on the court after right after he wrote the roe v wade opinion. i ve never seen a time when the court is so polarized and politicized and i ve never seen a time when it is more important that it act as a bull work and check against potential abuse and destruction of individual rights. we re talking about a woman s rights to health care, reproductive rights, worker rights, gay rights. all kinds of fundamental rights and liberties where the supreme court will play a role and that s why deliberate consideration and peoples voice is so important. we know that they re not
in conservative states watch the news. they know who is on the supreme court. so they will start the process whereby they will go to district court, circuit court, and up to the supreme court, and the law is going to change. while there will be efforts, there have been efforts before, owe connor and kennedy were real blocks on that. since that decision was done, whatever you think about the the decision with harry blackman, third trimester abortions have been outlawed. we know he was not anti choice before he ran for president and got political. he doesn t address overturning roe. i think ivanka trump would be deeply opposed oh, who cares. no, no, no. there is not a great appetite for overturning roe.
