Memorial Day events highlight the weekend By Staff Reports - info@limanews.com Steve Montgomery lays a wreath during a Memorial Day ceremony in 2018 at the VFW in Lima. Events are different in Lima for this year’s Memorial Day celebration, with a walk from the VFW to the flagpole at Town Square planned before the annual ceremony. LIMA Residents will get their chance to honor the men and women who paid for freedom with their lives this weekend, with an assortment of Memorial Day events planned in the region. Lima’s annual event will be different. A gathering will start at 11 a.m. Monday at VFW Post 1275, at the corner of East Elm and South Main streets in Lima. At 11:30 a.m., they will march north toward the flagpole at Lima’s Town Square. At noon, the flag will raise from half staff to full staff, with the playing of Taps.
