Jean Bryan may not have known it at the time, but her work as a candy striper for a local nursing home 40 years ago would be a precursor to her career.
After attending college and earning an undergraduate degree in health and nutrition, Bryan started a job as a food service director at a geriatrics center. During this time, she realized her true passion was working in senior care. She then became involved in various senior living and care organizations and held multiple positions, including environmental health specialist for the county health department.

Her transition into senior living began at Harrison Senior Living in East Fallowfield, PA where she served as corporate director of dining services. She then moved into her current role as executive director of Harrison House Chester County in Fallowfield, PA, where she has continued to serve for the past 25 years.

Kara Abdala proves that persistence and creative problem-solving are keys to a well-run operation, especially in a senior living setting.
Abdala became well-informed about senior living through working in the industry since she was a teenager. As a professional, she rose through the ranks to become sales director at a large for-profit personal care company, where colleagues say she excelled training other sales directors. Abdala then decided to take on a new challenge and joined Harrison Senior Living, a 49-year-old, family-owned business with three locations in the mid-Atlantic region.

SALISBURY, Md. – The Wicomico County Health Department is thanking Ms. Jessica Howell from Harrison Senior Living on their Facebook page.
As you can see, she brought all of these goodies to the health department’s vaccine clinic site for the staff Wednesday morning. What a great way to show appreciation for our healthcare heroes.
