Trinidad record deaths, Jamaica to restrict travel from Trinidad Image by PIRO4D from Pixabay BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago recorded deaths associated with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as Jamaica has indicated plans to restrict travel from Port of Spain, which has recorded increased cases of the Brazilian variant of the virus. Barbados recorded its 45 th death from the virus on Tuesday after almost a month after the last reported casualty, April 6. Health and Wellness Minister retired Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic said that the latest casualty is a 63-year-old male admitted to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility  on April 23. He spent six days on a ventilator.

Barbados has recorded another COVID-19 death. A 63-year-old Barbadian male has passed away from the viral illness. After being admitted to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility on April 23, the gentleman was subsequently incubated and ventilated for six days for severe acute respiratory problems.  While addressing the nation this evening, Minister of Health and Wellness, Jeffrey Bostic extended his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.  He also revealed that 15 new positives were recorded on Sunday, May 2 from 353 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Additionally, four persons recovered and were discharged, while 93 people remain in isolation.

His death brings to 45 the number of people who have succumbed to the virus. Meanwhile, three new positive cases of COVID-19 – two males and one female -were identified from among the 401 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Thirteen people recovered from the virus and were discharged. There are currently 81 persons in isolation. Confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded since March 2020 have moved to 3,884 (1,887 females and 1,997 males), and there have been 3,817 recoveries.
