Sound familiar? In the early 20th century, tuberculosis killed 1 out of every 7 people in the U.S. and Europe, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Tuberculosis is an airborne infectious disease that normally assaults the lungs and whose symptoms include a harsh, bloody cough, chest pain and fatigue.
