The Granite and Missoula County Sheriff s Offices have evacuation orders and warnings in place because of the
Anderson Hill Fire burning 800 acres 15 miles west of Ovando, according to the incident’s latest update on Inciweb.
A fire update shared by the Granite County Sheriff’s office says, “at least five cabins and additional structures have been evacuated” in the county.
Neither the Sheriff s Office, nor Inciweb have released specifics about the areas under evacuation orders.
The Bureau of Land Management continues its closure of the Garnet Ghost Town Historic site.

SALT LAKE CITY – A Montana firefighter is being treated at the University of Utah s Burn Center after he was severely burned while battling the Harris Fire, which has burned 2,700 acres in southern Montana.
Dan Steffensen from Red Lodge Fire Rescue was listed in serious condition with significant burns to his body.
An air ambulance transported him to the U. on Friday after winds shifted fire activity toward Steffensen and his fire engine.
Chief Tom Kuntz with Red Lodge Fire Rescue said Steffensen is now recovering from successful surgery, and his recovery could take up to six months. I was able to travel to Salt Lake and sit with Dan and express the love and faith that people have had, said Kuntz.
Red Lodge Fire Rescue released an update on Dan s condition following his first surgery.

Dan went through his first of many surgical procedures today at the University of Utah Burn Center. The surgery was successful and he has been alert and is communicating with the family and firefighters that are with him. The recovery process will be long and difficult. It is expected that he will be there for about six months. We all appreciate the tremendous support from everyone across the region. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
